This blog is going to be a short one…because I’m still in Mexico enjoying the sun! But, when I read this article about there being nothing wrong with pubic hair, I just had to blog about it! So…after reading the the Pubic Hari Positivity movement was born out of a TikTok social media influencer who was radicalized by…gasp…a model in a bikini with “a full bush,” I just knew this was going to be my topic this week.

The article went on to reinforce the view that personal grooming is a choice. Many women across the world, especially those in developing countries do not touch their pubic hair. In fact, there can be some health risks to removing all your pubic hair because according to the health experts in this article, pubic hair has a purpose. There were also cautionary tales depending on the method of hair removal, that could cause irritated skin, ingrown hairs, rashes, etc. I’m going to admit that in my youth after learning that one of my fellow rugby players shaved down there and went on to rave about the feeling, especially during intimate time…well, I had to try it out. I did enjoy the smooth feel in the way I enjoy the smoothness of my legs after shaving…but…and this was the biggest downside…it itches like hell when the hair starts to grow back. And…you don’t want to be scratching down there in public! There are many theories about the purpose of pubes…

To have a visual representation of sexual maturity.
To gather and distribute pheromones to attract a sexual partner.
To keep dirt, dust and bacteria out of the vagina (although the author seriously questioned this because they’d not seen any patients with a dusty vagina).
As a protection against STIs…and ding ding ding, this was the winner because of actual research that those who removed all their pubic hair were more likely to contract STIs, especially molluscum and warts because of the close skin contact that is more exposed. There was also a slight uptick in chlamydia or gonorrhoea.

I honestly cannot remember if I’ve ever described in detail whether any of my characters groomed in a specific manner…I might have because I distinctly remember a Facebook conversation about a brazillian wax.
