Well…they have finally done it…mapped the clitoris for all those men who need a map to find it! Obviously, we women don’t need a map to know that the pleasure center is not limited to that little button at the top of the hood! Interestingly enough, it took scientists three decades longer than when they studied the penis. Like navigating the seas, scientists have now charted those sensory nerves. Here are some interesting things I learned when reading the article on my weekly news scan…

- The female organ has at least a six-times denser nerve network.
- Up until this new research (led by a woman), that network of nerves remained a mystery. Note: I might not have had an actual map, but I could have probably drawn that network based on experience, as I’m sure most lesbians could tell you. We’ve known the existence of those other spots (G-Spot, U-Spot, A-Spot, etc.) for a while now.
- Using a particle accelerator (a kind of fancy X-ray machine), the researchers were able to create a digital 3D map of the clit’s complex neuroanatomy. Yes…I’ll provide pictures for those of you who are interested!
- Starting at the hood and that little button most of us recognize, the dorsal nerve branches down into an upside-down V, creating a kind of upside-down Y shape. But that’s not all…because in addition to those branches, there are surrounding nerves around the labia and vaginal opening.
- The technical terms for all these nerves are: Dorsal nerve of the clitoris, Corpus cavernosum, Venus network, and Corpus spongiosum. See the picture below.
- The maps are still limited because there are only two, and they came from postmenopausal donors. So, I suspect a map using a younger woman might look very different. Maybe larger? We know that our pleasure organs become less sensitive as we age.

I do love science! I have written in my books about various other spots besides the G-spot, but I haven’t actually used the words treasure map before. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future books! This might be a whole new thing to explore when writing those sex scenes that to me can be quite cringeworthy. I can’t wait to add some more play on words in the future! A Moment in Time is now out on Audible, narrated by Mary Byerly. I hope you will check out either the eBook or the Audible version, which may inspire me to actually sit my butt in my chair and write another book!
