About a year ago, I wrote a blog about labiaplasty. Here’s the link: https://annettemoriauthor.com/2025/08/01/labiaplasty/ Well, this week I am writing about a similar topic, thanks to a reader who knows how much I love to write about this shit. Shout-out to Karen (won’t give her last name in case she doesn’t want it known), who periodically sends me these articles. Once again, there is a trend with messing about in our lady parts, and not in a good way! Now, when I first saw the title, I thought, once again, someone was improperly labeling the vagina. For whatever reason, our lady parts are not parts, but often lumped into one name…our vagina, coochie, vag, etc., to include labia, clit, and everything else in the general vicinity. I honestly thought this might be about labiaplasty, but no, it’s more botox for the vagina! Basically, vaginamaxxing is cosmetic gynecology, sort of rejuvenation of the vagina intended to stimulate collagen and elastin production. So here’s some additional information about vaginamaxxing.

- Vaginamaxxing belongs to a dedicated field of plastic surgery called aesthetic genital plastic surgery, which also includes labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, labia majoraplasty, monsplasty, and vaginoplasty. My ladybits are clinching right now just thinking about someone cutting them, and most certainly not in a good way.
- The vaginamaxxing procedure uses a medical-grade laser to heat the tissue, which stimulates collagen and elastin production for the purpose of tightening the vaginal canal. Because who doesn’t want a youthful, tight pussy?
- Another way to max up your vagina is through the use of a tightening gel, and there are plenty of opportunistic business persons who are preying on our vanity by offering products like tightening gels, vaginal steaming, whitening creams, washes, deodorants, and supplements marketed for “feminine freshness.”
- The premier doctor for this procedure shares that business is booming for vaginal renewals. He claims a 60-70 percent rise in cosmetic gynecology consultations in the last five years. Since 2006, he has opened two more clinics to meet the demand. He offers stuff I’ve never heard about, like G-Spot and C-Spot enhancement injections that supposedly supercharge orgasms. Prices on his many offerings range from $350 for vaginal lightening of the skin to something called “The Barbie,” which minimizes the labia minora and emphasizes the labia majora, costing between $7,500 and $10,000. These procedures are particularly popular with OnlyFans creators, Porn Stars, and even a few Hollywood actresses.
- Health professionals are sending out the alarm. Tightening gels in a word is a disaster. Capsicum, an ingredient in this gel, is a direct irritant to vaginal and vulvar tissue. Valentina Milanova, a gynecologic expert, has a lot to say about this trend. Besides playing on women’s insecurities, this trend perpetuates the persistent myth that a vagina becomes ‘looser’ with sexual activity, and plays into that outdated ‘virgin standard’.
- Buyer beware because there are additional concerns about vaginamaxxing. Besides the costs, apparently about a thousand a pop for the laser treatment, there is the possibility of these risks: infections, bleeding, numbness, loss of feeling, or painful intercourse (for us lesbians, that means painful use of our favorite dildo).
- Bottom line: The vagina was doing just fine before the wellness industry decided it was going to get in on this new gravy train. And there is no one perfect-looking vagina – like a fingerprint, vaginas are unique. We don’t need a cookie-cutter vagina!
- Now, that is not to say that there aren’t legitimate reasons to consider genital plastic surgery. For some, there are reasons to take the chance, such as reconstruction after undergoing radiation treatment for cancer, congenital abnormalities, urinary incontinence, or if a person is experiencing uncomfortable symptoms that affect sexual function after vaginal childbirth or simple aging. In addition, wanting surgery to transition is a completely legitimate reason to explore genital plastic surgery. The health professions were not referring to these situations when sending out the alarm; it’s the trend to keep the vagina youthful that sends out red flags.

So, there you have it. I don’t know that I’ve ever explicitly written a sex scene where the main character praises the look and feel of her partner’s vagina, but perhaps I should. I know I’ve written characters that appreciate women in all shapes and sizes. Perhaps I’ll write a character that explicitly praises all the different shapes and sizes of the vaginas they’ve had the pleasure of enjoying!
